The Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) of Washington DC is a professional organization aimed to provide experienced professionals and individuals entering the industry an environment to collaborate on new and upcoming industry improvements. As a member of the AEI DC Committee, you will be involved in events that emphasize professional development through innovation and collaboration. Through events such as, social gatherings, professional development, technical presentations, and community service, AEI Washington DC hopes to enrich your leadership development and industry knowledge by creating long lasting relationships with industry leaders. FOOD BANK VOLUNTEERING - DC CENTRAL KITCHEN
AEI DC IS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH FOOD PREP AT DC CENTRAL KITCHEN. THE DC CENTRAL KITCHEN IS A NONPROFIT AND SOCIAL ENTERPRISE THAT COMBATS HUNGER AND POVERTY THROUGH JOB TRAINING AND JOB CREATION. VOLUNTEERS ASSIST WITH FOOD PREP SUCH AS CHOPPING FRUITS AND VEGETABLES TO CREATE THE MEALS DISTRIBUTED BY THE DC CENTRAL KITCHEN.

Mohamed Mohamed
Organized Events Coordinator
Mohammed has been working for a year at BR+A Consulting Engineers and is currently a Mechanical Engineer. His office is located in McLean, VA. He’s also involved in ASHRAE. He graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program there, focusing on the Mechanical Option. A fun fact about Mohamed is he has three siblings with each of them living in a different continent. He travels a lot as a result! Christian Parker
Joint Events Coordinator
Christian is a Structural Project Engineer at A+F Engineers. His office is located in the Downtown/Golden Triangle area of Washington D.C.. He is also involved with the Structural Engineers Association of Metropolitan Washington (SEA-MW) as Secretary of the Equity and Engagement Committee and Chair of the Younger Members Group. As joint events coordinator, Christian also enjoys crashing ASHRAE and AIA events. He graduated from Drexel University in 2018, with a BS in Architectural Engineering (Structural) and MS in Civil Engineering (Structural). He loves history, biking, music, transportation and traveling!
Maria has been working for a year at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger and is currently an Associate Project Consultant in Building Technology. Her office is located in Washington D.C., with her company focusing on the Engineering of Structures and Building Enclosures. She is also involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers, serving as the National Capitol Section Newsletter Editor. She graduated from Drexel University with a BS in Architectural Engineering (Structural) and MS in Civil Engineering (Structural). In her free time, Maria and Christian bike around D.C. with the goal to ride on every street at least once! Camille has been working for two years at WJE - Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. - and is currently an Associate Structural Engineer. Her office is located in Fairfax, VA. She’s also involved in SEA-MW - Structural Engineers Association Metropolitan Washington. She graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program there, focusing in the Structural Option. Some fun facts are she bought a road bike at the beginning of this year and have been enjoying long bike rides in northern Virginia While in college she was a photographer for her school’s independent newspaper. During a riot after the Penn State upset of Ohio State she was pepper sprayed in the face by the police while trying to take photos for the paper. None of her photos turned out and she was carried back to the office!
Jacob is an Associate Project Consultant in the Building Technology department at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger. His office is located in Washington DC. He graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program with a focus in the Structural Option. He enjoys playing all kinds of games as well as staying inside and doing absolutely nothing. Feel free to reach out with any questions regarding how to get involved with AEI and join our mailing list or tips and tricks for surviving without ever leaving your apartment.
Josh has been working for three years at James G. DAVIS Construction and is currently an Assistant Project Manager. He recently completed an eight-story apartment building in the SW DC area and his next residential project is starting up in Hyattsville, MD. Josh is also involved with the Washington Building Congress (WBC) Hammerheads committee. He graduated from Penn State University in 2018 where he studied Architectural Engineering, focusing in the Construction option. Some of his interests include baking, music/dancing, traveling and socializing (imagine that). Alli has been working full-time for Vanderweil Engineers as a Mechanical Engineer in the HVAC department since graduating from Penn State University in 2019. She graduated from Architectural Engineering with a focus in the Mechanical Option. Alli has been involved with the Penn State Alumni Association since graduation when she served as the Young Alumni Ambassador (YAA) working with the DC Chapter, where she now serves on the board. Some fun facts about Alli are that she started learning French after finding a book written in French that she wanted to read (but whenever a French instructor asks why she's learning French she says does NOT give this as the reason)! Molly is a Mechanical Engineer with BR+A Consulting Engineers in their Washington D.C. office. She is passionate for advocating for women in engineering and an avid Penn State fan! As a graduate of the integrated master and bachelor of Architectural Engineering (AE) program at Penn State, Molly has continued to kindle her relationship with Penn State and the AE Department through volunteering in the Alumni Association, the Women in Engineering Program, and the Alumni Society of Architectural Engineers. Outside of all things Penn State, she volunteers with ASHRAE and their National Capital Chapter. When Molly isn’t busy being active in the community, she’s focused on recharging her social battery through drawing, painting, embroidery, binging true crime shows, or planning her next DC staycation! What hobby should she pick up next? Let her know!
