Architectural Engineering Institute of Washington DC is a professional club aimed to provide experienced professionals and individuals entering the industry an environment to collaborate on new and upcoming industry improvements. COMING SOON – an ASCE-NCS Section Meeting like you’ve never experienced before.

 

On May 19th the Architectural Engineering committee is hosting a series of fast-paced, engaging presentations by members of the civil and building engineering community. We’re looking for presenters with all levels of experience who are interested in giving a 5 minute presentations, with the option to follow the PechaKucha style.

 

The presentation can be on anything related to the presenter’s career as an engineer, including collaborative project experiences or knowledge gained. If you have a topic you think would benefit from this fast-paced presentation style, please fill out the form to let us know.

Meet The Team

Mary Taylor

Member Records Manager

Mary has been working for 1 year at SmithGroup and is currently a Mechanical Engineer. Her office is located in Washington D.C. She’s also involved in the Penn State University Architectural Engineering (PSU AE) Alumni Society and the Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group (SMRG). She graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program there, focusing in the Mechanical Option. Some fun facts about Mary is she once “accidentally” visited Iceland on a vacation and is originally from Pittsburgh. She loves going to the movies, traveling, hiking and biking.

Mohamed Mohamed

Organized Events Coordinator

Mohammed has been working for a year at BR+A Consulting Engineers and is currently a Mechanical Engineer. His office is located in McLean, VA. He’s also involved in ASHRAE. He graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program there, focusing on the Mechanical Option. A fun fact about Mohamed is he has three siblings with each of them living in a different continent. He travels a lot as a result! If you have any ideas about events we should have in the future, feel free to reach out to him and let him know.

Ethan Fogle

Community Events Coordinator

Ethan has been working for 3 years at HGA and is currently a Structural Designer as well as being on the Community Action Steering Committee. His office is located in Alexandria, VA. He’s also involved in IES and SEA. He graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program there, focusing in the Structural Option. Some fun facts about Ethan is he is in a band called TRAINWRECK, where the band is made up of all HGA employees! He also makes wooden utensils, bowls, etc. and has two avocado trees.

Maria has been working for a year at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger and is currently an Associate Project Consultant in Building Technology. Her office is located in Washington D.C., with her company focusing on the Engineering of Structures and Building Enclosures. She is also involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers, serving as the National Capitol Section Newsletter Editor. She graduated from Drexel University with a BS in Architectural Engineering (Structural) and MS in Civil Engineering (Structural). In her free time, Maria and Christian bike around D.C. with the goal to ride on every street at least once! If you have any questions or suggestions regarding our website, newsletter, or other media outlets, feel free to reach out and let her know!

Christian has been working for a year at A+F Engineers and is currently a Structural Project Engineer. His office is located in the Downtown/Golden Triangle area of Washington D.C., with his company focusing on Structural Engineering. He is also involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers National Capitol Section Younger Member Forum (ASCE NCS YMF) and the Younger Members Group with the Structural Engineers Association Metropolitan Washington Chapter (SEA-MW). He graduated from Drexel University in 2018, with a BS in Architectural Engineering (Structural) and MS in Civil Engineering (Structural). He loves history, biking, music, transportation and traveling!

Lee has been working for 2 years at Summer Consultants and is currently a Mechanical Engineer. His office is located in Tyson’s Corner, VA. He graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program there, focusing in the Mechanical Option. Some fun facts about Lee are he enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures, particularly how different cultures interact with the built environment. He also enjoys volleyball, tennis, and hiking. If you have any ideas about events we should have in the future, feel free to reach out to him and let him know by commenting below or e-mailing us.

Camille has been working for two years at WJE - Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. - and is currently an Associate Structural Engineer. Her office is located in Fairfax, VA. She’s also involved in SEA-MW - Structural Engineers Association Metropolitan Washington. She graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program there, focusing in the Structural Option. Some fun facts are she bought a road bike at the beginning of this year and have been enjoying long bike rides in northern Virginia While in college she was a photographer for her school’s independent newspaper. During a riot after the Penn State upset of Ohio State she was pepper sprayed in the face by the police while trying to take photos for the paper. None of her photos turned out and she was carried back to the office!

Josh has been working for a year at DAVIS Construction and is currently a Project Engineer. He’s on-site at the Kiley project in SW D.C., but is otherwise in their main office in Rockville, MD. He’s also involved in the Washington Building Congress (WBC) and a planning committee at DAVIS called TEAM360. He graduated from Penn State University in the Architectural Engineering Program there, focusing in Construction Management. Some of his hobbies include baking, running, dancing and socializing (imagine that). He has recently gotten into races (Tough Mudder, Spartan, Savage) and will be running the Zion Ultramarathon in April (50K)!!
